Year 2 WC 14th October 2019
Date: 18th Oct 2019 @ 4:23pm
Year 2 have had a fantastic morning at The Potteries Museum creating clay models of Mary Seacole. They learnt some great techniques to use with the clay and produced some wonderful pieces of art.
In English this week we have been using a video clip as the inspiration for our writing. A man is stranded on an airship after it broke down and needs some help. After looking at informal and formal language, we wrote an informal note to the rescue team. We then wrote formal letters in reply to this.
In maths we have started using the column method to add two digits and one digit. Next week we'll be using this method to subtract.
In topic the children have been finding out more about the different continents and writing their own postcard. We have also been learning about the explorer Roald Amundsen who trekked to the South Pole. We acted out his journey on the stormy seas, spotting whales and penguins and then trekking up icy mountains.
Don't forget it's our stay and make on Monday afternoon where we will be making puppets. It is also our dress-up day so children can dress up as their hero/superhero.
Have a wonderful weekend
Mrs Saunders
