Year 2 w.b. 31.03.25

Date: 4th Apr 2025 @ 4:06pm

The children have all made an Easter card using a collage technique to make a sunset background.

RE – Easter around the World

We started our lesson talking about special Easter food we may have at Easter time and then tasted hot cross buns and Simnel cake (all dairy free, nut free), we learnt why the Simnel cake only has 11 balls representing the Disciples, when there were 12.

The children then learnt about Easter in other countries including; Ethiopia, Germany and Latvia.

The children then decorated an egg like the children do in Greece and made an Easter chocolate cake which is always a favourite in England

History  / English –

We have been talking about our trip to Nantwich last week and have written a recount of the day in our English lessons. We have also written a letter to the museum to say thank you for having us and teaching us all about the Fire of Nantwich. During our Forest School session many children built Tudor houses using clay and sticks. Some even mixed their own daub by mixing soil, straw and water in a hole in the ground using a big spade.

No-Outsiders - To feel proud of being different.

We read the story 'Just Because' by Rebecca Elliot about a boy and his sister Clemmie, we learnt what things Clemmie can't do and what she can do and talked about how her brothers loves her. We then worked out somethings we have in common with each other and what me might have in common with Clemmie. This story has helped year 2 talk about visible disabilities and how we can become good or even better friends with other people.

Maths –

We have come to the end of our work on capacity and volume by consolidating our learning by answering word problems and completed the end of unit assessment.

Computing – The use of the keyboard in word processing, selecting, underlining, undoing and other editing skills.

Art – We mixed our own secondary colours using only the primary colours. We learnt about creating different shades for our sea or field Hannah Dunnett pictures.

PE - Looking, observing and throwing the ball in different direction, making sure that someone is there to catch it!

Water bottles – Please make sure that your child has a water bottle in school every day ready for the warmer weather in the summer term.

Summer Uniform is being introduced next term, please see our website for the new options to wear.

Thank you for all your support this term, we hope you have a lovely Easter break and we will see back in school on Tuesday 22nd April. Happy Easter!
