Year 2 w/b 12th December
Date: 15th Dec 2022 @ 4:00pm
We have had another wonderful week in Year Two!
We started the week dancing and playing lots of exciting games at our Key Stage One Christmas party! We enjoyed playing Christmas journeys, pass the parcel and musical statues.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed a ‘Victorian day’ to enrich and celebrate our learning in history. They day started with a Victorian classroom experience, where we used slate and chalk to write. Our lessons involved listening to Miss Roxburgh without asking any questions! We practised our handwriting, chanted times tables, and completed a quiz in silence. Mrs Warren also led our drill session which the children absolutely loved!
After break time, we enjoyed playing some Victorian games: hoop and stick, hopscotch, and blind man’s bluff. We then discussed some traditions from the Victorian era that are still present today, such as: carol singing, decorating our houses, and writing Christmas cards. We then enjoyed carol singing, visiting both Reception and Year One, what beautiful voices Year Two have! In the afternoon, we applied our super teamwork skills to make gingerbread biscuits, these turned out fantastic!
Later in the week we were very lucky to see Father Christmas on his sleigh, who came to deliver us some special gifts.
Thank you so much for all of your continued support this term. It is very much appreciated and is evident in the children's fantastic progress and engagement with all of their learning. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas; I look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year.
With many thanks,
Miss Roxburgh and the Year Two team.
