Year 2 w/b 11th December
Date: 15th Dec 2023 @ 4:38pm
We have had another wonderful week in Year Two!
On Monday, we enjoyed a ‘Victorian day’ to enrich and celebrate our learning in history. They day started with a Victorian classroom experience, where we used slate and chalk to write. Our lessons involved listening to Miss Roxburgh without asking any questions! We practised our handwriting, chanted times tables, and practised Christmas carols. We then had a drill session which the children absolutely loved!
After break time, we enjoyed playing some Victorian games: hoop and stick, pass the slipper and blind man’s bluff. Next, we discussed some traditions from the Victorian era that are still present today, such as: carol singing, decorating our houses, and writing Christmas cards. We then enjoyed carol singing, visiting Reception, Year One and Year Three and Mr McAulay kindly gave us a shilling! In the afternoon, we applied our super teamwork skills to make gingerbread biscuits.
On Tuesday afternoon, we were very fortunate to be able to go to the New Vic Theatre to watch The Nutcracker, what a wonderful performance it was!
We ended our week dancing and playing lots of exciting games at our Key Stage One Christmas party! We enjoyed pass the parcel, singing and colouring. What a busy but enjoyable week we have had!
I hope that you have a lovely weekend.
