Spelling rules
This week we have focused on the rule where ‘a’ is the most common spelling for the /o/ sound after w and qu, such as in the words ‘wander’ and ‘watch.’
Maths and English
Our focus in Maths was time, with a particular focus on o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to- any consolidation at home would be really useful for your child.
For World Book Day we listened to the story of ‘The Day the Crayons Quit.’ We then wrote a letter and did some artwork based on the book. After this, I introduced the 500 words competition which I hope some of you will enter (remember today is the last day to get your entries in).
Later in the week, we focused on the Minpins and wrote some character descriptions using some great Year 2 language.
RE, Science and foundation subjects
In RE we continued to think about salvation and the idea of being rescued or found. We listened to the stories of the Lost Coin and the Lost Son to reinforce the idea of being found by God.
Mrs Taylor enjoyed cooking pancakes for Shrove Tuesday with the children and in PE the children played dodgeball.
Just to remind you about a couple of things from the blog last week:
I sent out a note regarding a SATS meeting on Thursday 14th March at 6pm. Please attend this if you would like to find out more about the upcoming KS1 assessments.
I sent out a letter about Stay and Make- this will be on Monday 1st April and details can be found in the letter about the session.
If you have any questions, please get in touch.
