Spelling rules
This week we have focused on the rule where ‘or’ is the most common spelling for the /er/ sound after w, such as in the words ‘work’ and ‘world.’
Maths and English
Our focus in Maths was time, with a particular focus on time to five minutes and problem solving- any consolidation at home would be really useful for your child.
In English, we planned and wrote a story based on the Roald Dahl book the Minpins; we then edited this at the end of the week.
RE, Science and foundation subjects
In RE we continued to think about salvation and the idea of being rescued or found. We listened to the story of the Lost Son and thought about how God rescued the son when he was lost.
In topic, we looked at African farming and compared it to British farming. We linked in the idea of Fairtrade and made booklets about all of this, using the iPad to support us.
I hope the meeting about SATs was useful- if you weren’t able to attend, the presentation is available to view. I will also be sending out an arithmetic and reading paper 1 next week for homework. This will hopefully give you an idea of any areas your child needs to work on and you can support with this at home.
I sent out a letter about Stay and Make- this will be on Monday 1st April and details can be found in the letter about the session.
Just to remind you, parent consultations are next week. Tuesday morning and Thursday evening are the two opportunities where you can make an appointment.
If you have any questions, please get in touch.
