Year 2 Week Beginning 9th October
Date: 13th Oct 2017 @ 5:27pm
What another wonderful week it has been in Year 2! This week we have been learning lots about instruction writing in English, as we have been writing about ‘how to catch a dragon’. We started our week by learning our text map, putting actions to our words and then retelling it to Reception. As well as these activities we have also drawn our own text map and highlighted the features of instructional writing.
In Maths, this week we have looked at adding one digit and two digit numbers together using a number line and hundred squares. Some of the children progressed onto using a blank number line as well as making larger jumps when, adding and subtracting, bridging the ten.
In science we have been exploring basic needs for humans and animals. By the end of the lesson the children were able to identity that they need water, food and air for survival.
In PE we have been continuing to develop our rugby skills. This week we put some of the techniques we have learnt into practise by playing a short game.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to hearing all about it on Monday!
