Year 2 - Week beginning 2nd July
Date: 6th Jul 2018 @ 2:25pm
What a lovely week we have had! We are thoroughly enjoying our last few weeks as Year 2 and taking time to reflect on the last two years and discuss what the future holds in Year 3. It is lovely to see how excited the children are to start their new journey.
The Titanic has been our main focus in English this week. We have looked at what the Titanic was, why it became famous and the events that happened as a result. On Tuesday and Wednesday we wrote a letter to the families that may have been waiting in America. A diary entry has been our focus over the last few days and the children have adapted the characters of the people on board really well. The amount of information that the children have absorbed and understood is fantastic and we look forward to continuing this work next week.
Measurement has been our main focus this week in Maths. We have been looking at time, weighing scales, temperature and measuring liquid. The children have shown how they have been able to transfer their exposure to measuring at home into the classroom. Next week we plan to make a cake using scales and measuring jugs, as well as time to ensure it is not over cooked and rulers to make sure we have enough icing.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and are able to join us for the garden party from 12.30pm tomorrow afternoon.
