Year 2 - Week beginning 29.01.18
Date: 2nd Feb 2018 @ 3:47pm
What another lovely week we have had!
In English we have been learning all about earthquakes and natural disasters. As we came in from break time on Tuesday morning, we were greeted with a classroom that had been turned upside down by a small earthquake. Although it was rather scary we felt it was important to learn more about them so that we were prepared if another one hit. Our story map told us about different elements of an earthquake, such as; the layer of rock around the earth called the crust, how many earthquakes occur each year and where they would usually be found.
In addition to this, the homework the children have completed this week has been fantastic! The children have put lots of time and effort into creating a fact file and these will be very useful next week when writing explanation texts.
In Maths we have been looking at division and data. At the start of the week the children were looking at division word problems and using their multiples of 2, 5 and 10 to calculate the answer. By the end of the week the children were recording and analysing pictograms and bar charts.
We’ve been focusing on teamwork as well as football skills this week in P.E. We hope to build on this more next week.
Have a wonderful weekend and a well-deserved rest after another busy week.
