Year 2 - Week Beginning 13th November
Date: 17th Nov 2017 @ 5:24pm
In English, this week we have been innovating our recounts and writing about the Great Fire of London. The children started the week by hot seating and re-enacting a person who may have witnessed the event. The children did a great job putting themselves into the characters and writing in the first person to explain the events. It was wonderful to see the amount of information that the children had absorbed and were able to recall.
In Maths, we have been working on adding three 1-digit numbers. The children started by recognising any number bonds to 10 and then adding the other numbers. By the end of the week, all apparatus had been removed and children were adding some of the largest 1 digit numbers together in word problems.
In Science, this week we have been sharing the importance of healthy eating with our Reception class. After we studied the effects of different types of foods on our bodies, we put together a poster to explain the importance of a healthy, balanced diet.
In PE, this week we have been completing running assessments as well as measuring our individual fitness. It was lovely to see how far we have all come already this year.
All children have now been given their parts for the Nativity and costume letters have been sent home. Over the next coming week, the children will be learning their lines in school and then a script will be sent home for them to learn on Friday 24th November. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us.
In our diaries next week, we have our trip to Treasure Island on Monday as well as our Christmas Fayre on Friday evening. We have a feeling that our Christmas celebrations will be well underway by Friday, so we hope to see as many of your there as possible.
