Year 2 - Week beginning 11th June
Date: 15th Jun 2018 @ 8:30am
It has been another busy week in Year 2. The week started with a lovely assembly from the Trinity Orchestra. They shared with us some of the music that they perform across Cheshire for many occasions. The children enjoyed this and showed particular interest in playing the violin.
In literacy, we have been innovating the story of ‘Adventures to Sandy Cove’. The children explored many different characters that could replace Jo and Rahul as well as alternative settings and adventures. Evidence is now clear that the children are beginning to use vocabulary from the texts they are reading to create excitement and suspense in their stories.
In maths, we have been focusing on division. The children have worked with numicon, multilink and real life objects to check answers to their questions. These skills were then transferred to answer one and two step problems. Remainders have also been a focus for some children and they have really understood the method of workings and how to represent remainders when writing answers.
In PE we have continued to explore movement and dance based around water. The engagement and enthusiasm that the children have shown has been wonderful.
In RE we have looked at baptism and creation. As this was our first Year 2 lesson based around creation, we looked at how and why Christians look after God’s creation. This will link closely with our lessons on recycling next week.
We would like to remind you about the whole school photograph on Tuesday at 9.20am.
Thank you and have a lovely weekend.
