What a fantastic day we've had doing Buddy's Big Workout. The children all looked brilliant and they've really enjoyed taking part in the circuits this afternoon. They were doing press-ups, planks, sit-ups, and a team circuit with year 5. Thank you to everyone who has brought in sponsor money. If you haven't collected it all in yet, then there is still time during the first week back.
The children have done their SRE lessons this week. The children learnt about basic hygiene and how to look after themselves and keep clean. We then introduced the concept of growing and changing. They looked at the life cycle and understood that babies become children and then adults. They also looked at the differences between boy and girl babies. In our last lesson we looked at different families and who we can ask for for help.
In maths we have completed our unit about subtraction. We have learnt lots of different strategies over the last few weeks, which although the children have found tricky, it has really helped them to gain a deeper understanding of number and number operations.
In English the children wrote their own non-chronological reports about giants. They came up with their own type of giant such as a storm giant, fire giant or a swamp giant for example. Then they thought about what it looked like, what it ate and how it spent it days before writing up their report.
I have sent home a mini topic book to work on over the next two weeks. Please don't feel you have to fill every page! I hope the children have fun working on this and produce a book they are proud of.
Have a lovely half term!
