Year 1 WC 10th December 2018
Date: 16th Dec 2018 @ 10:45pm
This week the children were all superstars in our nativity, Straw and Order. They performed brilliantly and did themselves proud. Well done Year 1!
On Wednesday we had our trip to the New Vic to see The Wind in the Willows. The children all really enjoyed it and behaved fantastically. We'll be doing some follow-up work to create a Key Stage 1 display about the story.
In English this week we have been innovating the story of The Polar Express. Instead of a train taking us to the North Pole, we had reindeer, elves, magical buses and even a helicopter. Our focus has been adding extra detail to our writing by using interesting adjectives to make it more exciting for the reader.
In Science we have continued to learn about our senses. We linked this to our work on seasons as we did a senses walk outside. We'll do the same again in the summer and compare what we find.
In maths we have been recapping place value finding more/less, comparing numbers and challenging ourselves with some tricky reasoning and problem solving questions. e.g. I am one year older than my brother. My brother is one year older than my sister. My sister is 13. How old am I?
It's our Christmas party on Monday 17th December. Food and drink for the party has been bought with our class money from the PTA. Children can bring their party clothes in a named bag to get changed into.
Don't forget our carol service on Thursday afternoon at St. Oswalds. We would love to see you there. We'll be leaving school at approximately 1:30pm if you would like to walk with us.
