Year 1 w/b 2nd December 2024
Date: 6th Dec 2024 @ 12:16pm
Well done Year One on another wonderful week!
In English this week, we have started writing up our own traditional narratives where a good character is trapped by a bad character and has to escape. We are so impressed by all of the narratives so far and look forward to seeing the final product next week!
Our phonics sounds this week were i-e (nice smile) and o-e (phone home).
In maths this week, we have been introduced to our new unit ‘Place Value’. We have been focusing on learning to count to 20 and used a number track to help us with this. We then matched the numerals to the picture and practised writing them out in words.
On Wednesday afternoon, we enjoyed a trip to the New Vic Theatre to see ‘The Three Musketeers’. It was a real pleasure to take Year One to the theatre!
Much of our week has, once again, been dedicated to our Nativity preparations. We really look forward to welcoming you to the performance ‘Busy Busy Bethlehem’ next week. The children have been working hard and the Christian Christmas retelling of that first Christmas over 2000 years ago is delivered by Key Stage One with sparkle, enthusiasm, and enjoyment. We look forward to seeing you next week at our performance on Wednesday 11th at 5:30pm and Thursday 12th at 2pm.
I hope those of you who are coming to the Christmas fair have a wonderful time and enjoy your weekend!
