Year 1 class blog w/b 5.6.18
Date: 8th Jun 2018 @ 2:15pm
We have had a fantastic week in year 1. Many thanks for your support with spellings. Please continue to support your child at home this weekend by using their phonics pack and playing games on phonicsplay.co.uk. The Phonics Challenge will be on Monday and Tuesday morning.
In English this week, we discovered a silver crown and a large, black suitcase labelled ‘H.M.’s Knickers.’ We discovered that it belonged to the Queen and then started to learn and explore a non-chronological report about the Queen’s knickers (based on the story the Queen’s Knickers by Nicholas Allan). In Maths, we focused on partitioning, comparing numbers and generally on place value. In topic, we learnt about the different continents and oceans in the world, while in PE we practised bowling and batting in rounders. In science, we have planted sunflowers and placed them in different locations to see if sunlight affects how they grow.
