Year 1 class blog w/b 5.2.18

We have had a super week in year 1! This week in phonics we have recapped on the i-e and e-e sounds. Thank you for your help with spellings!
In English, we wrote a non-chronological report about an animal, using our homework facts to write it about a different animal to a polar bear. Their writing was wonderful and we have learned lots of interesting facts about many different animals like elephants, tigers and pandas!
In maths we focused on tens and units and one more and one less, which including lots of problem solving and reasoning.
We worked scientifically in our science lesson, predicting which substances would dissolve and which wouldn’t. We then conducted an experiment and recorded our findings, before writing a definition of what soluble and insoluble meant and classifying the substances into the two categories. In topic we went bird watching and enjoyed a hot chocolate and a biscuit when we got back!
Please let me know if you have any questions or queries.
