Year 1 class blog w/b 20.11.17

We have had an exciting week in year 1! This week in phonics we have focussed on the er, ir and ur sounds. Thank you for your help with spellings and reading at home.
We continued to look at place value in maths, focusing on sequencing, ordering, problem solving and reasoning. In English we had a magical visit from Cinderella and her baby princess Elsie. Although some children suspected it may be Mrs McAulay dressed up and my baby Elsie, the fact that both babies were called Elsie was just an amazing coincidence! Following on from this exciting visit, we invented our own sequel to Cinderella based on the problems that she told us about.
In science, following on from our work on healthy eating, we prepared and enjoyed eating a healthy fruit salad. Thank you for bringing in lots of delicious fruit for us to prepare.
Following on from an exciting trip to the New Vic Theatre to watch Treasure Island, we wrote a recount of the trip on Thursday afternoon! As well as this we have started to learn the lyrics and actions for the nativity songs.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
