Y4 wb 3.2.25

Date: 3rd Feb 2025 @ 12:44pm

Another busy week for Year 4.

Our Maths work has focussed on the properties of rectilinear shapes. As they have straight sides and right-angles, it is possible to work out the perimeter without knowing all the lengths of the sides.

We all know how persuasive our children can be, don't we? Well, the children are working hard at writing persuasive letters to a witch who has stolen all the happy endings from the children's tales. At present, we are at the planning stage. Next week, we will progressively write our letter and hope to publish it too.

Guided Reading this week has followed the wonderful moral story The Magic Drum- a tale of a kind and generous King and a gready, boastful tortoise. We are part the way through the tale but things are not going well for the tortoise. We wonder if he will change his ways!

The children were over the moon as they began  using their bows in our string lessons. Using our tune Charlie Chicken, we experimented with the pressure and speed of the bow and also talked about how to care for the bow.

Our HTML skills are coming on in Computing. This week, we learnt the tag for an image and also how to copy an image address, allowing us to include it in our own webpage.

The children also took part in a Times Tables Rock Stars tournament with Year 3 this afternoon! We are still awaiting the results but the energy in the rooms was electric. What a great tournament!

To ease out the wiggles today, we looked at the resources for Mental Health Awareness week and enjoyed some of their Super Movers songs. These are based around different themes and great fun. Here's the link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/topics/c878zmv50rdt

We ended the week with Spanish as we continue to introduce ourselves. Today, we explained how we were feeling and how old we are before saying farewell.

Thank you for a fabulous week full of hard work and we would also like to thank the parents and carers who were able to make our Learning Exhibition. Some photos are attached.
