David Attenborough and Steve Backshall have played a prominent part in our learning this week. Our project in English is to write an information sheet all about Polar Bears. This will require technical language and the ability to write factually. We have been looking at how to build facts into sentences and yet still enable them to be engaging. This is going to challenge our fronted adverbial and conjunction work. Our reserach is complete so we will now practise developing our style.
The videos we used are here:

Our fractions work has now developed into decimals. Today, we have been plotting decimals on a place value grid, focussing specifically on the tenths column, and next week will begin looking into hundredths. We have been particularly careful to make sure we exchange ten tenths for one whole.
This week, our times table focus has been the 6, 7, 8, and 9s. It is noticeable that the children are becoming far more confident with these now. Don't forget to practise over the weekend! Next week, we will focus and the 7s and 9s again.
RE continues to look at the level of trust that Jesus showed in His Father as the disciples begin to betray Him. We learnt how Paul denied he knew Jesus three times between the end of the Last Supper and daybreak. In Worship, we have been looking at treating people fairly which tied in very well with our discussions on World Downs Syndrome Day. Thank you to Mr Cotton for a great presentation explaining how the patterns of chromosomes determine who we are.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed writing their own version of a Night of the Gargoyles. These creatures are up to mischeif throiughout the night and I am looking forward to reading all about their next adventures this weekend as I mark the Guided Reading books.
In our photos this week, we have a sunny Forest School session as well as snapshots of our English lessons as we practise out tone for our writing. There are also some examples of the Scratch work the children completed on Monday as they tinkered with loops.
Well done to Archie, Jack V and Jack F who were all celebrated with certificates in Friday's Worship. Congratulations to them for a great week.
Have a lovely weekend.
