Y4 wb 16.9.24

Team work has been the order of the week this week.

One of the highlights of the week was voting for our new School Council representatives. In order to help us choose who to vote for, the candidates gave a short speech. It was heart-warming to hear the pledges to listen and become an advocate for Year 4's concerns. Each child had clearly put a lot of thought and preparation into their speech. Well done to everyone and thank you for your hard work and consideration. In the end, there were two clear strong votes for Jack V and Joe. Well done to them and I look forward to hearing how their meetings are going.

The children have also impressed me with their writing this week. They have shown great skills in writing a paragraph describing a setting. This setting feels threatening, ominous, and we have acheived this by using the weather to set the scene.

Our times tables work moved on to threes. Miss Gadsby has found a great link to some songs on the BBC Teach page. The children had great fun dancing and singing along to these:

In Maths, we have been working again with number lines and place value. In the next stage of our lessons we will move on to Addition and Subtraction.

The children are doing very well with their handwriting and also their spelling. Very well done today in the spelling test- a great result throughout the class.

This afternoon we have continued looking at God's requirements for a good heart. We have developed an artwork that will form a class display looking at the qualities God would like to see in our hearts. We will begin to look at the story of David and Goliath. What qualities were in David's heart that led him to join the army and defeat Goliath? We will be looking at our own Goliath moments next week.

Congratulations to Dougie and Amelia this week- Dougie has produced some wonderful writing, working hard all week. Amelia has shown model learning behaviour- always ready, always listening. Well done to you both!

Thank you to everyone for another wonderful week. We're looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Miss Porteous, Miss Gadsby and Mrs Marshfield.
