Wings and Things visit Reception
Date: 22nd May 2018 @ 3:50pm
What an amazing afternoon we've had.
We have been lucky enough to see and even hold some weird and wonderful creatures. Simon, from Wings and Things, showed us lots of animals including a boa constrictor, a barn owl and even some Madagascan hissing cockroaches. Did you know that they compress air, which makes it sound like they hiss through their bottoms?
We found out some really interesting facts about Luna, the barn owl. We learnt that she was a nocturnal bird due to her having black eyes - this meant she only hunts at night. If an owl has yellow or orange eyes, they hunt at dusk or dawn. We found it particularly funny when Luna had a little poo on Simon's leg!
The teachers were very impressed with how well behaved all the children were this afternoon and were pleased to see how confident they were at holding and interacting with these unusual animals. What a lovely way to spend our Tuesday afternoon! A big thank you to Mrs Taylor for organising it and to Simon for providing a fun-filled experience!
