What's happening in Year 4 WC 2.11.15

Following the parent consultations, many parents expressed that they would like to know what we are covering, particularly in Maths, each week so that they can support at home and build on what we are doing in class. 

Maths: Column subtraction of up to 4 digits. This will be recapping and building on previous learning of column subtraction, ensuring that children understand the process of regrouping and why we do this. The children will also solve word problems involving subtraction. As part of the calculations process, we will look at approximating an answer before solving (therefore practising rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 will be useful) and using the inverse to check our answers. 

English: Newspaper reports linked to our topic of the Tudors. 

Spellings: For those children in my spelling group we will be focusing on the Year 3-4 Spellings List for the next 3 weeks.
