Welcome to Reception
Date: 3rd Sep 2021 @ 4:04pm
It has been a wonderful start to our year in Reception. Please find attached some of the pictures of the children enjoying themselves with their new friends and their new classroom.
PE & Forest School - PE is on a Wednesday and Forest Schools is on a Friday. We ask that the children come to school dressed ready for PE on a Wednesday and come with wellingtons in a bag on a Friday (if they haven’t been left at school). This will be starting from next week.
Reading Diaries - We ask that you use your child’s diary to communicate with us about their reading activities that they have done at home. When you have signed and written a comment to say they have read the book, we will then change this for you on either a Tuesday or Friday. We have always had Tuesday and Friday and days to swap books over to give the children enough time to explore and understand exactly what it is that they are reading.
Snack - From next week your child will be offered the option of toast, fruit or a snack from home at break time. We do ask that this is a healthy snack in line with our school healthy eating policy. If your child chooses toast then this will be credited to your ‘parent pay’ account at the end of each week.
Lunch - The children will be having lunch at school from next week. All children in Reception are offered a free school meal and will get to choose which option they have every day. I have attached a copy of the menu for next week to the bottom of this page. We will ask them what they would like once they arrive at school so there is no need to tell us ahead of time.
Water bottles - All children are given their own water bottles at the start of Reception. These have been named and will be washed each evening. There is no need to send in any additional bottles or drinks in to school.
Consent Forms – You may not see all of the children in photos on today’s blog. We are just waiting for some final confirmation on consent forms so please do return these as soon as possible.
Next week we will be doing our baseline assessments and then plan to start teaching our phonics sessions the following week.
I hope this information clears up any questions you may have. We all very much look forward to seeing the children bright and early on Monday morning.
Best wishes,
Mrs Cassettari
