Week beginning 6th March
Date: 11th Mar 2017 @ 6:20pm
In Literacy this week we have continued to explore our story of Captain Yellowbelly. We have now mastered the actions and can now confidently retell the story. On Thursday, we have started to innovate our story map and include some changes. We thought of a variety of interesting and fascinating characters that they would like to include. Next week we will move on to integrating these into our own stories.
In Maths we have been looking at addition and subtraction. The children are doing well with their number bonds to 10 and 20, so we are now moving on to look at counting on and finding the difference between two numbers. This is an example of the sorts of questions we have been looking at; 13 + __ = 18. The children have been using a variety of resources to help with this.
We are working really hard on our phonics in Year 1 at the moment. The children are exploring the sounds in real words and alien words. It would be fantastic if the children could continue to recap the alien words that were sent home and maybe even make up some of their own.
In RE this week we have started out topic of Salvation. On Thursday, we took a walk outside to spot signs of spring and new beginnings in preparation for looking at the Easter story. Please see the photos attached in the gallery post.
The pirates ‘stay and make day’ letter was sent out at the beginning of the week. This will be taking place on Monday 20th March. If you have not received a letter, please let me know and I will make sure one is sent home.
I look forward to seeing you all at the parent’s consultation.
Wishing you all have a lovely weekend.
