Week beginning 4th September
Date: 8th Sep 2017 @ 6:07pm
What a wonderful first week back as Year 2! The children have all settled back in with ease and have enjoyed exploring their new classroom. It has been delightful to see them back, fresh and smiling after a long summer holiday. We have enjoyed hearing all about the adventures they have been on and what exciting activities they got up to over the holiday.
This we have been focused on British Values. We have explored the Royal Family, the people who make up the family tree and what is in store for them in the future. We were even lucky enough to look at the photos of Prince George on his first day at primary school and remember how we felt when we started at Brereton. Additionally, we have looked at the first class stamp, the crown jewels and Buckingham Palace. This has helped us to gain a full picture of some of the most important people in Britain today.
Furthermore, we have also looked at individual liberty by having the chance to vote for the charity that we would like our money box to be donated to. We have also explored the different religions and faiths that are in the world, focusing on how we can be respectful towards their beliefs.
Although we have only been at school a few days we have managed to pack lots in. The children have set a great example for the year ahead and we hope they continue to enjoy being a grown-up year 2 in their last year in key stage 1.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
