Week beginning 3rd July
Date: 7th Jul 2017 @ 4:17pm
Well done to Year 1, you did a marvellous job with your assembly this afternoon. I am so proud of the mature and positive attitude you have had throughout this week and how you were thrilled to be able to share your work with your parents. It is wonderful to be able to bring together the hard work that has been done through this year and finish on such a positive note.
As well as our assembly this week we have had many other interesting activities. Monday morning started with our ‘Stay and Make’ activity of creating parachutes for our bears (please see the blog post from earlier in the week). Then on Wednesday morning we had a sports morning which was incredibly exciting. The children had the opportunity to play sports that were a little different, such as; golf, rounders, volleyball and dance. It was wonderful to see how the children engaged and some natural talent shining through.
In literacy we have enjoyed writing our own version of our persuasive writing about Trentham Gardens. In the assembly you heard some of the fantastic opportunities that we experienced when we visit the gardens, but this week we have been able to include even more of these in our writing, such as; the tea rooms, the bear factory and the huge lake.
Multiplication and mental addition have been our main topics in maths this week. The children have worked incredibly hard on improving their speed of working out small addition and subtraction sums without a number line or hundred squares to help them.
I would like to thank you all for your support over this week; the children really do love sharing their school life with you.
It has been another lovely week and I look forward to seeing you on Monday morning.
