Week beginning 30th January
Date: 4th Feb 2017 @ 5:50pm
Well what a surprise we had on Tuesday morning. Tables moved, chairs turned upside down and superheroes taped together and wrapped up in bandages! This could have meant only one thing, an evil pea was on the loose! Luckily Supertato had left us a series of instructions which would help us trap the pea. Next week we are writing our own instructions for making a trap to capture any baddies.
The children have really enjoyed using money in maths this week. They counted up in 2s, 5s and 10s and some children even attempted counting on in 20p and 50p coins...great work. Next we found coins to pay for items to buy from a shop using the fewest amount of coins. If the children could handle coins at home and start finding the coins to pay for things as you go shopping this would be super.
Our science investigations have moved on rapidly as the children all designed and made a cape for a superhero this week. They used a variety of materials having considered their properties. Next week they shall test their capes for strength, weight and their ability to resist water.
In RE we started our new topic on forgiveness. We explored a stained glass window about Jonah before questioning why Jonah disobeyed God.
In dance the children's superheroes compostion is developing well as the children use their bodies more creatively and use the space in the hall confidently.
Next week we shall have a safer internet afternoon on Tuesday before concentrating on SRE on the afternoons that follow. Our 3 sessions are keeping clean and looking after oneself, growing and changing and families and care. These materials were available to view last Friday but if you missed thsi opportunity and want to know more just let us know.
We were delighted to welcome Miss Wellings to Year 1 and the school last week. She is very excited about getting to know the children and has made a happy start to her time at Brereton.
