Week beginning 24th April
Date: 28th Apr 2017 @ 4:45pm
This week have flown by! In Literacy we have been innovating Goldilocks and the Three Bears. After looking at habitats last week in Science, we decided to change the setting and the types of bears that we were writing about depending on the habitats we chose to explore. The children are nearly finished with writing these and I have been blown away by the imagination and creativity that they have been able to include.
In Maths we have been focussing on solving addition and subtraction problems. At the start of the week we looked at solving difficult problems using number lines and hundred squares – this was quite tricky! The children rose to the challenge and by the end of the week they have been solving two-step word problems to numbers within 100.
All of the children are working so hard on phonics at the moment, both in phonics and English lesson. We have been working on independent application of sounds whilst writing and encouraging the use of resources around the room. During writing lessons now, you can hear little voices sounds out difficult words, it is lovely to observe.
In computing this week, the children have had the chance to explore programming. We have used the Beebots and iPads to programme the direction we needed the machines to follow. Although it was a little difficult understanding the whole sequence, with a little practise the children quickly became confident.
In RE we continued our work on discipleship and looking at the story in the bible about Zacchaeus. It was interesting discussing the reasons that they believed Zacchaeus changed his actions.
Just a little reminder that Maths homework should have come home in bags on Wednesday. If for some reason you did not receive this, please let me know and I will sort another one and get it sent home.
I hope you all have a wonderful bank holiday weekend and will see you back in school on Tuesday morning.
