Week beginning 24.10.16
Date: 3rd Nov 2016 @ 5:12pm
We have had a fantastic last couple of weeks in year 2. Congratulations to our super speller Ollie, who did very well this week in his spelling test! In phonics last week the focus was on the ending of words. We have looked at le, el and al endings and this week the focus was on al endings, such as in the word 'typical.'
We have focused on writing instructions for how to approach and train a dragon in literacy, using imperative (bossy) verbs to start our sentences. e.g. Train the dragon to carefully cook our school dinners.
In maths, we have been focusing on 2D and 3D shapes, including their properties, as well as lines of symmetry.
We focused on shooting this week in football and played some mini games to focus on attacking and defending. Next half term we will be focusing on hockey and gymnastics.
In topic over the last 2 weeks we have been looking at the story of Guy Fawkes and the children did some art work with Miss Peak. Mr Higginson has also been teaching the children music, including pitch, rhythm and pace.
Many thanks again with your support at home with spellings and homework. We hope that you found our comments at parent's consultations useful and informative. If you have any additional comments, please do not hesitate to ask.
We hope you have had a relaxing week and look forward to seeing you next week.
Mr McAulay and Mrs Pulle
