Week beginning 19th May
Date: 24th Jun 2017 @ 3:06pm
In Literacy this week we have been learning our new story map for persuasive writing. At the start of the week the children were told that golden time would be taken away, unless they could persuade me to give it back with reasons why they deserved it. We then moved onto looking at persuasive language and features used in leaflets. The children were intrigued by this, searching for different clues and explaining how these had managed to persuade them to attend a concert or event.
In Maths, our focus has been on time. We recapped o’clock and half past and then moved onto looking at half an hour later. As the children rose to this challenge, we decided to extend their learning further and look at digital time. Although it was a little challenging at the start of the week, by the end of they were reading analogue and digital time with ease as well as solving problems about time later in the day.
In RE we have looked closely at the story of the creation. We started by discussing the story with a focus on Eve eating the apple from the tree. Following on from this we looked closely at how God may have felt and discussed the emotions of all of the people in the story. The children are now developing a deep understand which works fantastically when it comes to questioning. We then moved onto the incorporate some art by drawing the Garden of Eden before and after.
In PE this week we have been practising for sports day. All teams have been confirmed and we looked at how some of the races will run. The children have become a rather competitive and are looking forward to the event.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you next Friday.
