Week beginning 13.3.17
Date: 17th Mar 2017 @ 9:22pm
We had a super week in year 2. Thank you all for your attendance at the parent consultations. We enjoyed sharing your children's progress and next steps and we hope you have gone away with lots of useful information. Sorry about the delay on Thursday evening! Many thanks for sending your children in in wellies for our farm visit. We had a great time and learned lots of things about life on a working dairy farm. Please have a look at our gallery item to see the pictures from our visit this morning.
Well done to our star speller James! Our spelling rule this week has focussed on the 've' at the end of words and the fact that words generally don't end in a v. Therefore when it sounds like there is a 'v' at the end it is usually 've,' such as in the words live, love and gave. We are now going to revisit previous spelling rules that have been taught which should help everyone to be able to apply the rules to unknown words.
In maths this week we have focussed on addition, subtraction and missing number problems. In English we have been learning all about an elephant and how his trunk was made! See if you can ask your child about the story map at home.
This week we enjoyed a rare, sunny afternoon which we spent learning how to throw and catch the ball in rugby. In RE we have been learning about salvation, while in science we have been learning about what something needs to be alive (ie. movement, growing, eating etc.) We have also spent some time going over some of the year 2 SPAG. Everyone also enjoyed writing thank you letters in our topic lesson, which we have photocopied and hope to send off to Beeston, as well as sticking them into our topic books.
If you have any concerns or queries please get in touch.
