Week beginning 12.12.16
Date: 16th Dec 2016 @ 10:01pm
We had a very exciting week in year 2! I felt extremely proud of the children on Tuesday and Wednesday and I'm sure that you as parents felt even more proud! What a PHENOMENAL show the children put on. It was an absolute joy to rehearse and all of the children in year 1 and 2 did a fantastic job. We certainly have some superstar performers in our class and the way the children learned all of their lines, as well as the songs, and performed them was superb. Thank you for your help at home practising lines. It was a very ambitious script with an adventurous outlook on the nativity, but it was performed incredibly.
Thank you again for your help at home with spellings and homework. Just as a reminder, could you please try to record any reading in the children's planner, as I know a lot of you read almost every night, but in some planners it looks like there hasn't been any reading at home. (I know this isn't the case!)
In maths this week we have looked at division for the first time using sharing. For example, we thought about sharing 20 sweets equally between 4 people. If we share them equally, each person would get 5 sweets. We have used practical equipment and have drawn arrays in order to show our working out.
In literacy we have been looking at writing statements, questions, commands and exclamation sentences, as well as ways of making exciting sentences, such as an emotion, comma sentences e.g. Terrified, the brave, courageous knight battled the menacing dragon.
As well as this, we have been rehearsing our Christmas carol and the children made some Christmas cards with Mr Higginson. We finished the week with our Christmas jumper and Christmas dinner day and it has certainly got us all in the festive spirits!
If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.
