Year 2 - Week beginning 11.09.17
Date: 14th Sep 2017 @ 7:32pm
Even though it has been a shorter than planned week in school this week, the children have still managed to get lots done!
On Wednesday, we had our hook lesson in English. The children came in to discover a very bizarre den that had been built in the corner of the classroom. After we discussed some of the ideas for why the den had been created, we crept in and had a little look. As we peered around the entrance, there was a small crown, 3 wooden swords and some old, dusty blankets. We searched a little further and found the book of ‘King Jack and the Dragon!’ The children have loved reading it and beginning to learn the talk for writing story map.
In Maths, we have focus on place value, looking specifically at where numbers sit on number lines and how different apparatus are used to represent numbers. The children have taken on this challenge and are now confidently working with numbers up to 100. Please see the photos attached that demonstrate this.
In RE we focused on the 'Good News' that Jesus healed people on the inside as well as the outside and we listened to the story of the healing of Jairus's daughter.
As well as this we have begun to explore the countries and capital cities in the UK in Geography as well as creating healthy plates of food in science.
The children have all adapted so well to Year 2 and are showing a real maturity. It is fantastic to see them growing and developing more individual style in their work.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you bright and early on Monday morning for a full week in school!
