The summer term is now well under way and it will soon be time to start practising our songs for the Key Stage 2 summer show, which will a musical showcase of the songs from The Sound of Music. This week we will be introducing the songs Year 3 will be singing and begin to learn them.
In maths we will be continuing with measure looking at capacity and weight, perimeter and measuring intervals of time. Children need to have a good understanding of the relationship between units e.g. 1cm = 10mm, 100cm =1m, 1kg= 1000g and 1 litre=1000ml and use these to solve problems. These are some of the types of questions we will looking at:
On Friday in English we began planning our innovations of The Iron Man. This week we will be writing our innovations. We will then be using drama to explore ideas for our own stories following a similar structure to the Iron Man.
In RE we have been learning about the Trinity and exploring symbols in art to represent this. At the end of the unit, the children produced some stunning artwork of their own using watercolours, which they could also talk about and explain the symbols they had included. This week we are moving onto our next unit: discipleship. Our key question during this unit is 'How does the Bible help Christian to live?'
In Science we began learning about different foods and the nutrition we can get from them. We also considered what makes a balanced diet and started to design a meal which includes the right amount of the different food groups. Homework this week will be to look at the nutritional value of different foods at home. More information will be sent home on Monday.
