Y3 WC 6th February 2017
Date: 4th Feb 2017 @ 10:40pm
This week in maths we are finishing our unit on measurement with some problem solving. We have been looking at finding the perimeter of shapes and comparing units of measure for length, capacity and mass. You can help at home by getting the children to look at different household items, and ask them to convert grams to kg, ml to litres and vice versa. Next we will be working on multiplication. I will be setting more times tables practice on My Maths this week. In addition, I will be sending home an arithmetic paper which gives the children chance to practise skills we have learnt this year.
In literacy, we have been learning a story-map about an ocean liner that had lost control and steamed through the canals of Venice. Luckily we were able to interview a British tourist who was there at the time (he looked very much like Mr Stanway!). He was able to answer lots of our questions about what he saw and how it felt, which really helped us with our writing.
This week we will be innovating and inventing our own newspaper reports. The children had some very imaginative ideas when we were planning our innovations on Friday so once again I'm looking forward to seeing the work they produce.
It is SRE week this week. The children will have three lessons throughout the week. If you have any questions or concerns about what we will be teaching, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
On Tuesday it is Safer Internet Day so we will be looking at how we can stay safe online.
