Y3 WC 30th January 2017

Last week the children wrote some fantastic stories. We hope to have them redrafted and website ready by the end of the week. I'll ask the children to write a note in their planner when I've added them to the Year 3 gallery page. 

We are going to be moving onto newspaper reports in literacy. With the internet now being a popular way of accessing news stories, children are less familiar with newspapers and the way articles are set out. It would be really helpful if you could share any newspapers with your child so that they begin to recognise features such as how they are presented in columns, headlines, etc. Our new story map which we will be learning, is a newspaper report so I'm sure they will be experts by the end of the week! 

In maths we are going to be spending another lesson on division before moving onto addition and subtraction of measures. As part of measures we are going to be looking at how we measure length, capacity and mass; and solving addition and subtraction problems using these units. 

This half term we are working extra hard on learning the spellings from the Year 3/4 list which is in your child's planner, with an extra spelling session dedicated to practising these words. I am really pleased with how hard the children are working at learning these, well done Year 3!
