WC 20th March 2017
Date: 18th Mar 2017 @ 9:58pm
What another busy week we have had! It was lovely to meet parents again at parent consultations and be able to share with you your child's progress this year.
Year 3 have really enjoyed creating their own Roman mosaics this week with Mrs Taylor. We had some wonderful designs including patterns, animals and Roman emperors.
In maths we have been focusing on written methods of addition and subtraction. We even looked at some trickier calculations where we had to find missing digits within a column addition or subtraction. This week we are continuing with this as we'll look at estimating, using the inverse to check answers and find missing digits; and solving word problems.
In literacy this week we are starting our non-fiction unit on recounts. Our model, which we'll learn using a story-map, is about London. The homework this week is therefore to find some information about London and add it to our class wiki. (Details of how to do this are in your child's planner.)
In Science, we are learning about shadows and why they are formed.
In RE, we have been learning about Holy Week. We have lernt about the different crosses and what they represent. Using drama, we retold the story of Holy Week and at various points we have thought about how Mary and the disciples might be feeling. Next we're going to be thinking about what questions we would like to ask Mary and we'll be doing some hot-heating to explore this further.
