This week, we finally published our creepy twisted stories and the children impressed with their newly-developing joined up handwriting. And as one unit finishes, another begins. We will now be focussing on letter writing, a skill that still has great relevance even in this age of emails. We looked at examples written by Gandhi and then wrote our own to Mrs Mclean encouraging heer to build a swimming pool!

We have been covering some topics in readiness for next week's maths assessments. These include subtraction with several exchanges, addition with carrying and inverse operation. These inverse operations are called checking strategies. These are used to check that you have the correct answer. For example 120-3=90, so 90+ 30=120. The children grow in confidence with these topics day by day.

We have also moved on to a new set of poems in our Guided Reading, Where Zebras Go, which contains some beautiful poems, often in some wonderful shapes.

In Computing we have continued our Scratch investigations. This week, we decomposed a program to find out what it instructed a sprite to do.

It was a frosty foggy morning when we went out to Forest School but thankfully Mr Simmons had lit the fire in the Hut. Of course, if the fire is lit, there is often the chance to toast marshmallows. Today, we also cpntinued our craft activities:bracelet making, decoration making. As a result of the frosts, we decided not to visit church on Thursday as the lane was very slippy.

Mr Cotton presented another fantastic activity this week to develop the knowledge of the digestive system further. It encouraged the children to think of the food chain, as you will see from the photos.

We continue to practice our hymns towards our Christmas events and have enjoyed watching the Reception nativity this week.

As the week came to a close, Luke and Jemima were our celebration certificates. Also of note were our new members to the 144 club: Elizabeth, Maizie, Esmae, Tristan, Henry and Mabel. Also, Issy and Maizie have finished the BFG! The busy lot! Very well done to them.

Mrs Tice, Mrs Gleave and Mrs Warren.
