As we near Eastertime, we are looking closer at the trust and forgiveness Jesus showed towards His disciples. There were times when Jesus trusted His friends, for example when He sent them off to spread the teachings He had given, and times where they found they could trust in Him, for example, the Feeding of the 5000 and when Jesus calmed a storm. We have looked at what it means to trust and also who the children feel they themselves can trust through thick and thin.
We had a lovely session on Scratch in our Computing lesson on Monday. The children synthesised their knowledge of the coding system to make a variety of games. Some had a start and stop, others had choice options. The skills on show were great to see. Some examples of their work is shown in our photos.
Also in our photos is The Jungle Book. We had a great time when two very talented actors/puppeteers/singers came to school to dramatise the story. Joe, Henry and Georgia were part of the final performance as monkeys and wolves. Well done to those three- no stage nerves at all!
We are now set to complete our Plan and Write of our information sheet on our chosen animals. Many are writing about the mighty polar bear but some have chosen arctic foxes or penguins. We have made sure that we have enough facts that will provide inspiration for our paragraphs next week. We have discovered that a polar bear's skin is actually black and that the fur isn't white, it is translucent.
Well done to Year 4 with the current work on times tables. We are focusing strongly on 6s, 7s, 8s and 9s. Next week, we will add 12s too. We have furthered our decimals knowledge this week to include hundredths. We have looked at converting between fractions and decimals and how important it is that we don't move our decimal point, rather the integers move up and down a column if dividing by 10.
On Wednesday, Mr Aspinall took Year 4's PE assessment. This focuses on all aspects of a child's ability, looking at flexibility, coordination, speed and agility. Well done to Year 4 in the endeavours here.
Congratulations to both Daisy and Arlo. Daisy was voted the top 2% in class this week and Arlo was celebrated after weeks of playing beautifully with Reception during his lunch.
Thank you for yet another fabulous week. See you again on Monday.
