The Final Full Week!
Date: 14th Jul 2022 @ 4:19pm
So many special occasions this week!
After the rehearsals of the last few weeks, it was lovely to get back to lessons. This began with our Maths project for the week- The Apprentice, Series 2! This year, the children were to design a cake stall from scratch. At first, they spent time working on their branding- thinking about the items they were going to sell and how to package them effectively. Flyers were designed and distributed throughout school. Then it was time to work on our selling pitches. With the help of some YouTube clips of the real programme, we assessed how not to pitch (and one or two good examples). Then groups went to each classroom and delivered their selling pitches. Feedback came in which was quite positive so we then began the great bake. (I say we, I'm not sure how much I really should be thanking parents for their commitment to this!). Anyway, the results were amazing. Not only did the most beautiful and yummy bakes come in, but the children had a whale of a time serving the whole school. The queue was literally around the block! In total, we raised £132.80 which will go some way to covering our SingFest coach bill. Year 6 had been promised that 10% of their revenue would go towards treats. They are deciding how to spend this as I write!
Also this week, we welcomed Jo Russell into school to boost our resilience for the challenges ahead. We have been very impressed with how the class have talken on and met the challenges of the last few months, not least how they approached their SATS. That said, we are all aware, I am sure, That Year 6 havea big step ahead in their education journey. Jo worked on confronting our fears and realising that we all have special and valued gifts and talents.
On Wednesday, we attended a very special service at Chester Cathedral marking the end of the Primary journey for Year 6 classes throughout the diocese. As ever, Year 6 put their best foot forward, singing wonderfully and behaving impecably and enthusiaistically throughout the day.
Thursday we welcomed Gary Curtis from the Love Music Trust who showed the children all about brass instruments. Ben had a good go!
Friday was the return of Sports Day. A slick event organised by Mr McAulay, we await the final results! Friday also saw the St Oswald's Leavers' Service. A thoughtful service, family commented that it struck the right balance between humour and seriousness. Photos for this will be on the wensite soon.
We wish you a peaceful, happy weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next week.
