Sports Week ~ Reception/Year 1/Year 2
Here is our plan of action for National Sports Week:
Monday 20th June
The whole school will gather in the hall for an opening ceremony. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will then spend the day completing different literacy based activities.
Tuesday 21st June
The children will explore the important role maths plays in sport. Reception will be measuring distances and time, keeping records and comparing. Year 1 will be measuring ingredients in order to follow healthy recipes. Whilst in Year 2 pupils will be running a sports cafe, which Reception and Year 1 will visit during the afternoon.
Wednesday 22nd June
Our theme will be The Best of British! A professional cricket coach will be working with each class. We will also be refining our tennis skills and having a go at lawn bowls! At lunchtime we will head across to the park for a picnic lunch and strawberries.
Pupils should come to school in sportswear.
Thursday 23rd June
We will be journeying to Brazil to find out more about the country, its people and their traditions. We will be having a workshop with a trained dancer, be keeping to beat in our drumming lessons and creating carnival headdresses.
Pupils should come dressed to party!
Friday 24th June
Pupils will spend the morning trying a range of different sports, including rounders, golf, yoga and Zumba. They will also work with football coaches from Crewe Alexander. In the afternoon we will be hosting our Sports Day and we look forward to seeing many parents and grandparents there.
Pupils should come to school in sportswear.
We have also attached a timetable to help keep you informed of what the children should wear and bring each day. These timetables will also be displayed in classroom windows. If you have any concerns about any of the activities please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for good weather!
Thank you for your support,
