Remembrance Week
Date: 9th Nov 2018 @ 12:26pm
Hello everyone,
As you will have realised, this week we have done a lot of work around Remembrance and particularly World War One. We have read a wonderful book by Michael Foreman called 'War Game' about the Christmas truce in 1914 and an animated cartoon version is available to watch on YouTube. The children have written diary entries, a newspaper introduction and have designed army recruitment posters as part of their English work, and we have also looked at the symbolism of the poppy in a Topic lesson. I have been so impressed by the level of understanding the class have shown over the week, and they have asked many questions about life during WWI - I hope they have been able to tell you a lot about it during the evening. Thank you to everyone who came to our school Remembrance service earlier today and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
On Monday we will be going on our rearranged visit to Delamere Forest so please remember it is a non-uniform trip as the children need to be wearing lots of warm clothes and protection from the elements. The weather report today suggests decent conditions, but there is a chance of rain and it is November so be prepared!
Enjoy your weekend!
Mr. Cotton
