Reception's Blog Week Beginning Monday 27th September

Date: 4th Oct 2021 @ 10:57am

After a slight technical hitch, I do hope that you are now able to see all of our blog posts.

This week has been rather busy. We have been learning our harvest songs, putting actions to our literacy story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, completing work on the number 4 and working on our personal, social and emotion skills.

In Literacy, we have been looking at the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ This started by exploring the different parts of the story, before adding actions and then sequencing the story. As the children are now becoming familiar with the sequence of the story, we aim to move on to changing the different challenges the family come up against in our literacy sessions next week.

In Maths, we have been looking at the number 4. The children have been counting with one to one correspondence before finding which objects represent 4 and which ones don’t. It has been good to challenge the children to prove what they know.

We have had a big push this week on our personal, social and emotional skills, particularly being kind to everyone in our class. We have used the story of ‘The Colour Monster’ where we have been able to establish times when the children feel different emotions in the class and how we handle these. It may be worth reading this through with your child at home to establish when they feel the different emotions.

A couple of reminders for next week, we have our photo day for individuals and siblings on Monday, dress up day on Tuesday (children can come as bears or they can bring in their favourite bear) and on Friday we will be heading to the Church for our Harvest service. Photos from our dress up day and Church service will be added to our blog next week.
