Reception's blog - w/b Monday 10th May
Date: 14th May 2021 @ 3:52pm
Good afternoon everyone!
Another Friday, another busy week, and another Reception blog! :-)
Not a lot happened on Monday. It was really much like any other day.
Apart from the class suddenly feeling like the Starship Enterprise, complete with astronauts, aliens, galaxies and someone dressed in a very striking six-foot-tall orange suit... Space Day was a great success as I'm sure your children told you on the way home, and we definitely have some Bake-Off champions in the making if the space rock cakes were anything to go by!
In literacy, we have been learning how to write instructions using sentence starters like: first, after, next, then and finally, and this morning the children have been giving each other instructions using these key words. Whilst in maths, our work on numbers to 20 has been very well carried out with so many of the children able to sequence these numbers correctly. Both these areas of learning will continue next week.
Today we have been decorating our plastic bottle rockets in preparation for launching them. As a keen environmentalist, I decided against using glitter and paper for decoration, and instead we used our Forest School time to find natural resources to cover our rockets in. Sadly, conditions outdoors weren't quite right this afternoon - nothing to do with the weather, more to do with the number of other classes outside doing sports and Forest School. So to avoid potential disaster and catastrophic injury, we will now launch the rockets on Tuesday.
Hope that you all have a terrific weekend, and we will see you all on Monday.
