Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 8th March
Date: 12th Mar 2021 @ 5:48pm
Good evening,
This week has been incredibly wonderful. Mrs Sherliker-Hewitt, Miss Gadsby and I have been thrilled to be back with the children and see them learning with their friends. Please see the pictures below for some of the activities that the children have enjoyed.
On reflection of home learning, I have decided to now post about the work the children have coming up as opposed to what they have done in the previous week. I know that lots of parents want to support their child at home, so this way hopefully you will feel more informed to support your child.
In phonics next week we will be focussing on the ‘ar’ and ‘oy’. We will begin by looking at the sounds, writing words and then move on to writing a sentence.
In Literacy we will begin to look at our class text ‘The Something’ by Rebecca Cobb. After our hook lesson we will look at writing labels, asking questions and creating sentences.
More and Less and addition to 10 will be our focus in maths. We will start on Monday with a quick recap of more and less before moving on to use a tens frame for adding to 10. For those children who are confident with addition to 10, they will move on to adding to 20 before mastery problem questions.
In our topic we will be focussing on minibeasts and seasons. On Monday and Tuesday, we plan to paint pictures of bugs before talking about signs of spring, planting seeds and discussing different types of flowers. On Wednesday we have a focus on personal, social and emotional skills looking at things that are fair and unfair. On Thursday Mrs McLean will be working with the children on Easter gardens and on Friday we aim to talk about special events in our lives.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the pictures from this week. Thank you to everyone for sending in party clothes, wellington boots and snacks the party today. It looked like the children thoroughly enjoyed the ‘bubbles and balloons’ party.
