Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 7th January

Date: 11th Jan 2019 @ 8:31am

Welcome back to the spring term. It is lovely to see all of the children back at school ready to start a new term.

In Literacy, our focus has been on our new class text called ‘Star in the Jar’. On Wednesday morning, we found a very peculiar jar in the middle of the classroom and we later found out that it belonged to a little boy.  He had found some special treasure but unfortunately needed to send it back. As a class we then went on to talk about the different types of treasure that we have found before and wrote a sentence about it using a capital letter and a full stop.

In Maths, we have been collecting and interpreting data. The children asked each other their favourite types of fruit, made a tally chart and then converted it into a pictogram. We were very impressed with how they picked up this information and completed the task independently.

The children have settled back into school life with ease this week. They have enjoyed exploring their new role play areas and provision in the classroom. All of the child initiated learning will be added to their tapestry account for you to look at.

On our main class page we have our new topic web. This will inform you of our topics and learning points for this half term. On there you will see that there is a ‘Stay and Make’ activity morning which will take place on Wednesday 23rd January at 9am. Please find the letter to find out more about this morning in your child’s book bag.

Enjoy the weekend and see you on Monday,
