Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 6th July
Date: 9th Jul 2020 @ 3:39pm
It’s been another lovely week in Reception. We have been writing stories, learning to subtract and exploring symmetrical patterns on butterflies.
As we are coming to the end of our time in Reception, we decided to ask the children to retell the story of ‘Something Else’ and what a great job they did. We started by looking at the first two pages, asking them to tell us what happened and then rewrite it in their own words. Some of the work they have produced has been wonderful and we can’t wait for them to finish it next week.
In maths we have looked at counting back on a number line to subtract. We started by exploring the difference between an addition and subtraction sign and then applied our knowledge to number lines. All children are now confident counting on and counting back using a number line and other resources.
We have moved on from bees to butterflies this week in topic. The week began by exploring facts about butterflies with particular focus on symmetry and patterns. Ink dipping, printing patterns and exploring textures has been enjoyed by all children.
Next week may be our final week in school, but we can’t wait to have lots of fun and share some wonderful memories before the school holiday.
