Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 6th January

Date: 10th Jan 2020 @ 3:48pm

And just like that, we’ve been back a week already!

On Wednesday, we came back from assembly to find that someone or something had left a trail of oats on our classroom floor. We decided to investigate as no one knew where they’d come from. Upon following the trail into the woods, we found a very mysterious hole and a book called, “The Something” by Rebecca Cobb. The story follows a little boy and his journey to find out what was hiding in the hole under the cherry tree. Could it be the door to a mouse’s house, the home of a hungry troll or even a dragon’s nest? We’ll continue to explore this book in our literacy lessons and we’ve already started to learn the story using our ‘Talk 4 Writing’ actions – perhaps we could show you?

In maths this week, we’ve refreshed our knowledge on addition. We used our classroom teddy bears to show us how to add two groups of things together, worked out the tricky sums on the board as well complete addition work sheets. We will continue to look at this so the children feel secure in their ability.

We must say a huge thank you to all who gave gifts and cards to us for Christmas. We were overwhelmed with your generosity and it meant a lot to us all. We’ve especially loved this week hearing about all the wonderful things you got up to over the holidays.

Have a brilliant weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday,

The Reception Team.
