Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 4th November
Date: 8th Nov 2019 @ 4:15pm
What a lovely week we have had! It has been wonderful to enjoy some time back at school as a complete team.
The ‘Naughty Bus’ arrived in our classroom on Monday morning and it’s been a whirlwind journey since. Once we had discovered some rotten beans, we knew we had to do some investigating as to why the Naughty Bus thought it was okay to have a wash here. After a little exploration, we found a story book and watched a very intriguing narrative. Since this happened it has lead on to building bridges, making roads and looking at many different vehicles.
Shapes to form the naughty bus and the numbers 1-6 have been a focus in maths. The children loved exploring 2D shapes and then cutting them out to form a Route Master bus. Please see pictures for more details.
In Topic this week we have been blow painting to make fireworks, using cars to creatures with a variety of colours and writing CVC words to label our pictures. We are so impressed with how the children are applying their learning across different subjects.
Our sounds in phonics this week have been r, j and h. These sounds have been put into the children’s bag to continue practising over the weekend. Our tricky word this week has been some.
This week for homework we would like the children to go on a treasure hunt. They must find things in their home that begin with r, j or h and draw a picture of them. If they are able to draw a picture and label we may be handing out dojos.
We look forward to seeing you bright and early on Monday. Please remember next Thursday is our visit to Church. We have only had one parent register their interest for walking down at 9am, if anyone else is able to help please do pop in and let us know.
Many thanks
The Reception Team
