Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 4th March

Date: 8th Mar 2019 @ 6:02pm

The biggest highlight of our week was, without a doubt, World Book Day. The children looked fantastic (well done parents and grandparents) and they loved sharing their stories with everyone in the school. All children shared the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and went on to write a little about the story. Coincidently, we found a lost and damaged green crayon back in our classroom, so we wrote letters to the other colours to ask for some help.  Please check out the ‘World Book Day’ gallery item for photos.

Capacity has been our main focus in maths this week. On Monday, we looked at which containers held different amounts of water and created an investigation to find out which containers held the most amount of water – some of these results were rather surprising! By the end of the week the children were able to sequence five different size containers taking into consideration the amount of water they could each hold.

On Tuesday we enjoyed a special activity of eating pancakes in celebration of Shrove Tuesday. We had a variety of toppings and all enjoyed the delicious treat.  Please also see the gallery post for pictures of these.

Thank you so much for all of the homework we have had in. We love how many people have explored with different materials and the children have thoroughly enjoyed talking about them. Each piece is proudly hung on our classroom washing line for our visitors to see.

As our trip really isn’t far away now, if anyone is still having trouble with the payment for the trip please do come and see me as it will be here before we know it.

Have a lovely weekend.
